As a Phoenix maternity & newborn photographer, I often hear moms wanting to stay fit and active during pregnancy. I personally enjoyed prenatal yoga classes myself and thought it would be beneficial to provide a list of Phoenix Prenatal Yoga options around the valley. With all of the yoga studios in Phoenix, I know that it can be overwhelming to find the perfect place suited for you. And, not all yoga studios specifically offer prenatal yoga classes.
One of the most important benefits of joining a Phoenix prenatal yoga class is that you’ll have the chance to meet other expecting moms potentially at the same stage of pregnancy as yourself. Coming into your second trimester, you’re starting to feel your energy come back. Not only are you looking for a fitness program to stay active and healthy, but you also may be feeling social again. A prenatal yoga class is a perfect meetup to forming a relationship with a new mom-friend with a baby the same age as yours!
Focusing on slowly and deeply breathing through the nose. Learning techniques that may aid with shortness of breath and work through contractions during labor.
Moving different areas of your body through their full range of motion.
You may stand, sit or lie on the ground. You’ll develop your strength, flexibility, and balance by gently moving your body through different positions.
You’ll relax your muscles and restore your resting heart rate and breathing rhythm at the end of your prenatal yoga class.
Prenatal yoga should not be performed until 12 weeks of pregnancy. Be sure to let your instructor know how far along you are and any special conditions that you may have. Always check with your prenatal care provider before participating in a fitness routine.
