I am an advocate of printing out your images, which is why I have created a list of 5-important reasons to print your images. These are your memories! Be excited about them! There’s no denying that photographs are powerful representations of our lives. Having photographs in your hands provide an experience than sitting on your hard drive, or Facebook/ Instagram can not even begin to compare.
The emotions tied to photographs are grand!
Remember when you were growing up, and there came a time where you were curious about what you looked like as a baby? Then, you were surprised at seeing how different your parents looked. How about the photo of you and your grandparents or distant relatives, but they passed before you were old enough to remember them? It’s shocking! A photograph has the power to bring back memories, even for those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Suddenly, you feel like you have been transported back to another place in time. Sometimes, for a time that you never really knew. Each time you look at a photograph, you remember a smell, sound, or, most importantly, how you feel.
For my business, I offer only fine art archival quality photographs printed in a professional lab, because I want your images to last. I personally have tested several labs to make sure you are getting the BEST quality when it comes to ordering prints. When you get your photos printed through a professional lab, you are getting higher-quality photographs than your local drugstore. Archival quality photographs require special care, such as minimal handling, being tucked away in photographic albums/books, or within UV-protected glass frames. The importance of having archival-quality photographs is that they will last 100+ years as long as they are properly taken care of, which will be passed down for many generations.
Think back to my point about nostalgia.
I want you to experience you and your children, and then your grandchildren sitting together going through old memories.
Instead of buying the same wall art as everyone else from Ikea or Target, your home is decorated with unique artwork. If you love crafting, you can make creative art projects of your photographs for special occasions or decorating bedrooms. Your baby’s first-year baby book is a great place to document milestones as your child grows.
Studies have shown that children grow up with more self-confidence and higher self-esteem when they regularly see themselves in printed photographs. Waking up to family pictures hanging in children’s bedrooms or walking past them daily in the living room gives them security and a sense of value. The photographs reassure that they, too, are important.
As an adult, you see yourself in a different light. Usually, positively. I get a lot of feedback from clients saying that I captured them beautifully and how they imagined. Be reminded daily of how amazing you felt during your photoshoot by displaying the images taken.
Printing provides another way of backing up your images. We live in a digital age, but just as soon as we adapt to technology, it changes. Look at how far we have come from VHS or even CDs. Those items have become almost obsolete within less than 2-3 decades. Programs get re-written, and updates are no longer support older files. Your hard drive could crash, you lose your phone, and all of your unsaved images are gone.
