As a Phoenix Portrait Photographer specializing in motherhood, I always encourage families to celebrate the smaller milestones in between the bigger ones. Your baby’s first year of life is full of many changes. Within one year they go from sleeping most of the day to suddenly walking and talking and being more aware of the world around them. To say they grow way too quickly is an understatement. The first year can easily feel like a blurb! Once you realize how quickly time goes by, these moments become PRICELESS!
6-month milestone photoshoots are one of my favorite ways to help you slow down time and snuggle with your baby just a little bit longer.
Before you consider booking a 6-month milestone photoshoot, I’d like for you to consider where your baby currently is in development. Your baby’s personal development determines what their photo session will look like. Most importantly, you want to consider if your baby is sitting unsupported. The 6-month milestone session is also referred to as a “sitter session” for that reason.
4-7 Month Milestone Development
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, around this age is when your baby truly becomes interested in the world around them. While they have been aware and learning since birth, they’re now exchanging interaction. There are many milestones for this age group, but a few may make for a more exciting 6-month photo milestone session.
Typically developing babies are able to:
- roll both ways
- sit with and without the support of their hands
- reach with one hand
- transfer objects from hand to hand
- respond to their name
- explore with hands and mouth
- enjoy social play
- responds to other people’s expressions of emotion and appears joyful often
Please keep in mind, there is no hard rule that your baby must meet one or all of the milestones listed in order to have the photo session. Documenting where they are in life around this age is what matters most. As your Scottsdale Baby Photographer will always meet your baby where they are at any given stage in their life.
